HELPING BEIRUT HOSPITALS
On August 4, 2020 the tragic explosion at the port of Beirut killed over 189 people, injured more than 6,000, caused over $15 billion USD in damages, left an estimated 300,000 residents homeless, and severely or fully damaged several nearby hospitals.
This catastrophe could not have come at a worse time for Lebanon, which was suffering from government mismanagement and political upheaval, a financial crisis, and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic already overwhelming many of its hospitals.
No matter how many generations ago our families emigrated from the Middle East, each of us felt a sharp pain in our heart watching the video of the explosion at the Beirut port and the ensuing human tragedy, followed by an overwhelming rush of inspiration that something had to be done to help; we had to do something to help.
Determined to contribute, we reached out to the Lebanese Embassy, the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, and several media outlets to gather information and determine the most impactful way we could make a difference.
Our conclusion was to focus our efforts on those hospitals severely affected by the explosion.
The Global Order of Middle Eastern Christians is a non-profit organization that also engages in humanitarian aid as part of its community development initiatives, but is not a registered charity that can issue tax deductions.
100% of the net proceeds will be donated as either a monetary transfer, or through the shipping of equipment, among selected hospitals.
